Undergraduate Students Awards Banquet
The annual undergraduate awards banquet is one of the few times during the year when students and faculty members from both programs - welding engineering and materials science and engineering - gather.
On a timeline crowded with deadlines, cramming, and impending travel; this banquet always preceeds a well-deserved spring break and much-awaited, and now virtual, commencement (for spring graduates).
A wave of ceremonial handshakes and photo opps spread through the tightly knit crowd on the eve of a healthcare crisis that would severely interrupt everyone's personal cadence within a week. As Ohio braced for dire consequences on an elevated platform, Fawcett Hall provided a Buckeye-themed backdrop and respite unlike traditional Tuesday nights for students, faculty and staff of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. It was the last Tuesday on campus as we knew it, and the nostalgia for normalcy stings.
We are grateful for special guests who presented awards of distinction in honor of current and past pioneers with a Buckeye connection. We thank you.
