Safety Training
Safety training is a critical part of working in a lab. Training should be provided prior to beginning any new laboratory activity and should provide personnel the information needed to perform the required task safely. All training, whether required or specific to the task, should be documented.
Please discuss with your instructor, principal investigator, or supervisor which online and in-lab trainings are required before working in the lab.
EHS Online Training
EHS Online Safety Training
A number of online safety related training topics can be found on the EHS Online training page. Please discuss with your supervisor which training modules are required before working in lab but at a minimum lab workers are required to take:
Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Hard copies of MSE-related MSDS are available in suite 2136 Fontana Laboratories.
Hard copies of WE-related MSDS are available inside the entrance to the Edison Joining Technology Center (EJTC) and in 140 ETJC.
Chemical Hygiene Plan
See your advisor for chemical hygiene and handling procedures specific to your research group.
Employee Accident Report Form
The Employee Accident Report must be completed for every work-related accident or illness. This report will:
- Assist employees in obtaining immediate medical treatment
- Inform supervisor/charge person of the accident
- Be recorded for follow-up and future prevention
