Professor Wei Zhang elected as American Welding Society Fellow

Professor Wei Zhang was elected to an American Welding Society (AWS) Fellow in the AWS Annual Convention in Atlanta, GA, Nov. 2018. Fellows of AWS are recognized for distinguished contributions to the field of welding science and technology, and for promoting and sustaining the professional stature of the field.
Professor Zhang is recognized for:
- Research and publications that promote improved, fundamental understanding of welding and additive manufacturing processes and materials behavior through advanced modeling and experimental efforts
- Advocacy for welding education and training, and lasting excellence in mentoring and developing students and young professionals
- Long-term participation and support of AWS technical and organizing committees
