About

Narasi Sridhar will initiate the development of a Center for Aging Physical Systems on a part-time basis at The Ohio State University and will continue in his position as Vice President, DNV GL.

Sridhar has extensive expertise in the area of corrosion of metals, with demonstrated leadership in the development of risk management for corroding systems, safe storage of nuclear waste, and the safe and sustainable use of materials and sensors to monitor degradation. He has served in several industrial research and leadership positions over the past 35 years, including: Leader, Corrosion Group at Haynes International, Inc.; Senior Program Manager, nuclear waste storage at Southwest Research Institute; Program Director, Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division, Southwest Research Institute; and Vice President and Director, Materials Program, Strategic Research & Innovation, DNV GL. At OSU, he has been an adjunct professor and served as a member of the MSE External Advisory Committee.

Dr. Sridhar is nationally recognized for his contributions to the area of corrosion. This includes the Technical Achievement Award and selection as 2011 Conference Plenary Lecturer by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), member of the National Academy of Engineering Panel on Pipeline Safety, R&D 100 Award, and chair of the 2014 Gordon Conference on Aqueous Corrosion. He is a fellow of NACE, Associate Editor of Corrosion, and editorial board member of Corrosion Engineering Science and Technology. He holds 8 patents and has authored/co-authored over 150 articles in the areas of: 1) alloy development and characterization; 2) environmentally-assisted cracking; 3) localized corrosion and modeling; 4) risk assessment; 5) sensors and monitoring; and 6) CO2 sequestration and utilization.
