Roberto C. Myers is a professor of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University with a joint appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as Physics. He received his B.S.E. in Materials Science and Engineering and a B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. Myers earned his PhD in Materials in 2006 at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He joined the faculty at Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering with a co-appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Fall 2008.

His research interests involve designing materials for new electronic, optical, and magnetic functionality using epitaxial layer by layer synthesis. This enables engineering the band gap, polarization, conductivity, and quantum confinement in semiconductors. Current research in his group focuses on thermal spintronics (coupling heat flow with spin/magnetic functionality), as well as III-Nitride molecular beam epitaxy of nano-heterostructures, especially semiconductor nanowire hetereostructures. He has published about 60 journal articles, was awarded the Newcomb Cleveland prize in 2005, and the NSF CAREER award in 2011.
