Hendrik Colijn receives Chuck Fiori Award from Microscopy Society of America

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering congratulates Henk Colijn for being among the 2022 Society Award Recipients announced by the Microscopy Society of America. 

Hendrik "Henk" Colijn will be receiving the Chuck Fiori Award at the Microscopy & Microanalysis 2022 meeting on August 3 in Portland. The Chuck Fiori Award is given to an outstanding technologist in the physical sciences category who has "made significant contributions such as the development of new techniques which have contributed to the advancement of microscopy and analysis".1 

Mr. Colijn's name has become synonymous with Ohio State's Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis, a center which he helped develop. He has been employed at Ohio State for 40 years and is currently the center's Assistant Director of Operations. Aside from teaching and managing operations at CEMAS, Henk's scientific focus is on TEM, EDX, and XRD analyses and equipment. 

The award's namesake, Chuck Fiori dedicated his 30-year career to the development and application of electron probe x-ray microanalysis. To learn more about Chuck Fiori, refer to the article written by Dale Newbury and published in Microscopy Today.
