Dissimilar Material Joining Manufacturing X Lab

Joining of dissimilar materials has always been desired, which enables multi-material structure and fully utilizes each material at the optimized location. One typical pair is aluminum alloy to advanced high strength steel, which has been widely used in automotive industry nowadays. We have studied different solid state welding techniques on the joining mechanisms of these two materials, including friction stir welding, friction stir spot welding, ultrasonic welding and some innovative joining methods.
