Professor Alan Luo wins TMS LMD Division Award

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering congratulates Professor Alan Luo, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, for being awarded by TMS with the LMD Technology Award. The LMD (Light Metals Division) Technology Award "recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding long-term service to the light metals industry by consistently providing technical and/or operating knowledge that has enhanced the competitiveness of the industry".¹

Academic and research excellence within Ohio State's Department of Materials Science and Engineering continues to be noticed. The caliber of research being conducted within DMSE is world renowned and continues to be recognized for the advancement of materials development and applications that benefit industry demands while aligning with the College of Engineering's focus areas - materials, mobility, manufacturing, medicine.

Dr. Alan Luo is also the Director of the Light Metals and Manufacturing Research Laboratory and a faculty member with the Center for Simulation Innovation and Modeling (SIMCenter). Earlier this year, Luo and his research team were awarded $1M from REMADE Institute. He will be presented the LMD Technology Award during TMS' Annual Meeting in San Diego, Feb 23-27, 2020.
