Professor Glenn Daehn Presents Digital Blacksmithing to Capitol Hill
The study entitled, "Metamorphic Manufacturing: Shaping the Future of On-Demand Components", was released in February during TMS 2019. The buzz around the new digital manufacturing phenomenon continues to pulse as the technology is introduced and its potential impact is understood by prospective stakeholders.
Dr. Daehn was the team lead for the collaborative study, which was conducted by TMS on behalf of the U.S. Office of Naval Research and Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow (LIFT) manufacturing institute. Last week, the study team was hosted by the House Manufacturing Caucus on Capitol Hill where Glenn presented the concept of metamorphic manufacturing, also known as digital blacksmithing. The enormous potential of the technology was transmitted during the 90-minute spot delivered by Daehn, which included its effect on advanced manufacturing in tandem with the United State's economy, productivity and national security.
The event was captured by TMS and members of the Congressional staff, and we have shared them on our social platforms.
