Instructional Assistant (IA) and GTA service

View IA - GTA requirements and responsibilities

An expectation of our students is the ability to teach what they have learned and to be able to critically judge the technical communications and ideas of others. Service as an Instructional Assistant provides students with opportunities to meet this important objective while assisting the undergraduate academic program. Qualifying students may add to their current funding by taking on a paid Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA), details at the link above.

MSE / WE Petition Form

From time to time a student's situation--be it academic, funding, etc.--will require a deviation from the rules established by the Graduate Studies Committee in the student's degree program. To this end, a form has been developed to petition the student's Graduate Studies Committee.

The student is to complete the form at the link below, providing a justification for the requested change in policy or procedure. Please have available the policy or procedure that is being petitioned (the form will ask for this). The student will have the opportunity to attach supporting documents to this form, if needed. The petition is received by the MSE-WE Graduate Studies Coordinator (Mark Cooper), who will review and route the petition.
