Enhancing Weldments in Chemical and Downstream Processing, Integrated Gas, Upstream and Renewables

Abstract

Jorge Penso Ohio State welding engineering, Shell Engineer
Jorge Penso  |  M.S., Ph.D. WE Ohio State

Opportunities losses due to Operational Unit non planned shutdowns and slowdowns and project quality and extensions issues caused for weldments failures lead to significant economic impact in business. Additionally, weldments failures frequently pose safety risks. Learning via participation in industry-oriented research organizations and deploying this learning have shown to help reducing above losses and safety risks. The strategy also includes developing and steering new activities associated to bio-oils, hydrogen economy, carbon capture, and electrification.
