Welding Engineering

  • A complex engineering discipline that  involves aspects of materials science, design, inspection, mechanical and electronic systems, lasers, and robotics
  • Welding engineers design welds, perform inspections of welds and understand the properties and processes behind welds that make structures safe and useful
  • The only B.S. in WE in the nation

Materials Science and Engineering

  • Focuses on relationships among processing, structure, properties, and performance of materials
  • Links scientific research with applied engineering to design materials for specialized uses
  • Ohio State's highest ranked engineering program in 2022 U.S. News & World Report

Benefits of both programs include:

  • low faculty-to-student ratios
  • discipline-specific clubs
  • friendly, non-competitive, inclusive environment
