Dr. Adonyi is originally from Romania, where he graduated from the only Welding Engineering program in the country, The Timişoara Polytechnic, in 1976. He worked four years in pressure vessel manufacturing, then five more years in the shipbuilding and defense industries in Israel, where he studied Materials Science at The Technion Institute in Haifa before coming to the US in 1985.

He graduated with his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University Welding Engineering program in 1989 after completing his Navy-sponsored applied research on the Buried-Arc GTAW welding of titanium, aluminum and stainless steel under the guidance of Prof. Baeslack. After that, he worked for seven years at US Steel Research, and then he joined the faculty at LeTourneau University, Longview, TX in 1996.

His talk will include an overview of the ABET/TAC accredited degrees in Materials Joining Engineering and Engineering Technology, as well as the new Master of Science in Engineering program. The presentation will cover a wide range of topics between High Performance Steel weldability research to GMAW Waveform monitoring studies, ending with microwave soldering of bismuth telluride ceramic thermoelectric elements.
