The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University (OSU) invites applications for four tenure-track positions in the areas of: 1) functional materials for energy conversion and harvesting; 2) joining/additive manufacturing of advanced materials; 3) photovoltaic materials, devices, and/or systems; and 4) advanced structural/functional ceramics. Appointments will be at various levels, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidates and the specific position as described below. Two of the positions are supported by endowed chairs and three of the positions are partially funded by the Discovery Themes Initiative (DTI) at OSU, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university will make a global impact: Energy and Environment, Food Production and Security, and Health and Wellness. The DTI includes the Materials and Manufacturing for Sustainability Program, the goal of which is to achieve and sustain undeniable impact and leadership in the creation, understanding, advancement, and deployment of materials and manufacturing technologies that address the energy and sustainability needs of society.
