Format & Schedule

To reduce Zoom fatigue, we'll "flip the classroom" and provide information about our program and faculty in advance of the Overview. On the evening of 3/22 we'll host an overview of the two programs and our graduate program and provide a chance to ask any questions about the degree requirements and admission process. On the evening of 3/25 we'll conclude with a Grad Student Panel providing our guests a chance to ask questions of our current grad students.

We invite you to learn more about the many research topics and centers available to students in our programs.

Our guests are asked to schedule appointments to meet with our faculty in advance of 3/23-25 (more below).

 


Monday, March 22--TBD (one hour between 4:00-7:00 p.m. EDT)

  • Welcome & Overview of the MSE and WE graduate programs presented by Drs. Maryam Ghazisaeidi and Carolin Fink, Graduate Admissions Committee Chairs for the MSE and WE programs, respectively.

    MSE Graduate Program Overview (10:00)--Dr. Maryam Ghazisaeidi provides an overview of the fields of study in the Materials Science and Engineering graduate program. The video provides a brief history of the department and insight into the broad categories of research carried out within the program.

    Welding Engineering Graduate Program Overview (27:00)--Dr. Carolin Fink has recorded this overview of the WE grad program. The video provides a brief history of the WE program and brief summaries of the faculty and their research fields. [download PPT slides]

    Welding Engineering Lab Tour (8:40)--Jack Canaday, and other WE graduate students, provide a tour of our welding engineering laboratory facility, the Edison Joining Technology Center, and give a glimpse into the research in which each is involved.

On 3/15, the week before the Graduate Program Overview, we'll ask our guests to view faculty bio videos and learn more about our faculty before scheduling meeting times. We hope this allows you to narrow your search and select faculty who share your interests. Our guests will coordinate meetings with our faculty at mutually conducive times during the days of 3/23-25.
