Daniel Weygand joined the Institute for Reliability of Systems and Devices (IZBS) at the University of Karlsruhe in 2002. He received a Ph.D. from the INP de Grenoble, France in 1998, based on modeling of grain growth. As a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, he worked with Prof. Eric van der Giessen in the Micromechanics of Materials Modeling Group to develop a three-dimensional discrete dislocation dynamics tool, which will be used in the NANOMESO project.
