Ruth Schwaiger joined the Institute for Materials Research II in 2004. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Stuttgart in 2002 and spent two years as a post-doctoral researcher at MIT. She focuses on investigating the relationship between material microstructure and mechanical behavior, and the influence of microstructure on deformation mechanisms in particular.
