Graduate Student, Ohio State University (US)

NANOMESO Activities:
Atomistics (AT)
Peierls Method (PM)

Joshua Askins joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Ohio State University (US) in September 2005. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003. There, he participated in the co-operative education program, a study abroad program on energy and the environment at UNSW, Australia, and a research exchange with University of Augsburg, Germany. His senior design project was on texturing of superconducting powder in silver sheathes. After graduation, Josh joined Kennametal in Ebermannstadt, Germany, for 5 months, working on coating thickness distribution. From October 2003 to August 2005, he returned to the University of Augsburg and obtained a Master of Science degree in Materialwissenschaft. The thesis topic was: Charge Separation and Transport in Donor/Acceptor Organic Solar Cells, working with fullerene (C60) and copper phthalocyanine (CuPc). Josh joined the NANOMESO effort in October 2005 and will be studying interactions between grain boundaries and dislocations.
